#2 Jonathon Spivey - February 27, 2017 - Willow Spring, North Carolina.

I've known Jon Spivey since I was about four years old. We grew up a few doors from each other in Raleigh, North Carolina. We went to school together, we were groomsmen in each other's weddings, attended family funerals together - we literally are like family. Jon has a twin brother also - when we hung out together as kids we were sometimes referred to as "the triplets".  Jon was very easy to approach to photograph - he has posed for me multiple times over the past few decades.

Jon works as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in North Carolina. He does some pretty serious work - putting folks to sleep and waking them up during surgery. We have joked that his job requires him to "pass gas".  But I remind him that my job is not life and death. His can be and because of that I respect him immensely for what he does for people. He often travels to other countries to volunteer his services for the poor and needy during free surgeries.

I stuck to the parameters for the project. Ten exposures in ten minutes. I finished the roll in about eight minutes. I used no extra lighting (using shade in natural light) other than a bright LED flashlight that we played with in two frames.

What I think I learned in this shoot was that I felt like ten frames were not enough for me or Jon. We were just getting warmed up. But alas - this is what I am learning by doing this project.
