I met Bryan Regan for the first time I believe in the summer of 2011 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Bryan is one of the few photographers that actually own a photo studio. The majority of photographers don't actually own a studio, but Bryan does. He produces some amazing work and his talent shines in his image making. He covers a pretty wide range of subject matter - from high- tech commercial product images to gritty editorial/documentary images. He also uses a lot of humor in his images. Bryan is not afraid of taking risks and venturing into scenarios that can be a challenging. He often documents the neighborhood around his downtown Raleigh, NC studio.
Bryan grew up in Raleigh and attended Randolph Community College to study photography after high school but dropped out after deciding he wasn't learning the skills he really needed to learn to actually work in the type of photography he wanted to do. Soon thereafter he loaded up a Chrysler K car and drove to Las Vegas with his mom to start a job in a photo studio. He later relocated to Raleigh and assisted a few photographers for a while. He started his own photo business out of his house and eventually got a studio. Give a look at Bryan's photography website here.
Bryan always seems to have multiple personal photo projects in the air at one time. One of them is the "Sideshow Panda" which is picking up quite a following on Instagram here. Bryan bought the panda suit on Amazon.com for about $90 and his girlfriend wears it for the photo series. The panda showed up for this shoot in the last frame.
